One week field visit for assessing the progress of season A 2025 in different irrigation schemes.

As an agribusiness company committed to supporting sustainable agriculture, we recently embarked on a one-week field visit from September 16th to 20th September.2024,to various irrigation schemes under our management across five districts. The primary objective of this visit was to assess the preparedness of these schemes for the the current cropping season A2025.

One of the key components of our field visit was to directly interact with farmers and evaluate their readiness for the new season. Our team conducted thorough assessments where they inspected irrigation canals, pumps and other essential infrastructures to ensure they are in good condition and capable of delivering adequate water supply, they verified the availability of essential agricultural inputs, such as seeds, fertilizers and pesticides to support farmers’ planting activities, they also assessed farmers’ understanding of modern agricultural practices and provided necessary guidance and support where needed.

We believe that farmers’ insights are valuable in improving our services, during the field visit, we held open discussions with farmers to understand their challenges, concerns and expectations for the new season. This feedback will help us tailor our support programs to meet their specific needs and enhance their agricultural productivity.

To address the broader challenges facing agriculture in the region, we also met with local government officials where the discussions focused on exploring how our initiatives can align with government policies and contribute to the overall development of the agricultural sector, we also discussed potential collaborations to improve agriculture in their districts.

Our one-week field visit was a valuable experience that allowed us to gain firsthand insights into the status of irrigation schemes and  needs of farmers in these schemes. By monitoring farmer readiness, gathering feedback and engaging with local authorities, we are well-positioned to support a successful season A2025 and contribute to the sustainable development of agriculture in our communities.
